The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is a rigorous and internationally recognized educational program designed to foster intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills in students.

The IB curriculum is offered at three levels: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). Each level caters to specific age groups and educational stages. Here's what you can generally expect from each of these programs:

Primary Years Programme (PYP):

  • Age Group: Typically, students aged 3 to 12 years.
  • Focus: The PYP aims to develop inquiry-based learning, encouraging curiosity and a love for learning. It emphasizes the development of essential skills, knowledge, concepts, attitudes, and action.
  • Subjects: The PYP curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including language (often taught in multiple languages), mathematics, science, social studies, arts, physical education, and personal, social, and physical education (PSPE).
  • Transdisciplinary Learning: The PYP encourages students to make connections across subjects through transdisciplinary themes, which help them understand real-world issues and develop a holistic understanding.

Middle Years Programme (MYP):

  • Age Group: Typically, students aged 11 to 16 years.
  • Focus: The MYP aims to develop critical thinking, intercultural awareness, and a global perspective. It focuses on fostering inquiry-based learning and encourages students to make connections between subjects and real-life contexts.
  • Subjects: The MYP curriculum covers various disciplines, including language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design.
  • Interdisciplinary Learning: The MYP promotes interdisciplinary learning, where students explore connections between different subjects through global contexts.

Diploma Programme (DP):

  • Age Group: Typically, students aged 16 to 19 years.
  • Focus: The DP is a two-year program that aims to provide a well-rounded education while encouraging students to specialize in particular subjects. It emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, and academic writing.
  • Subjects: The DP curriculum consists of six subject groups, including studies in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts. Students also complete the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, an Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirements.
  • Flexibility: The DP allows students to choose higher level (HL) and standard level (SL) subjects based on their interests and future academic/career aspirations.

The IB curriculum aims to promote international-mindedness, cultural understanding, and academic excellence. It encourages students to be active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who are prepared to contribute positively to the world.
